Sustainable Management of Terrestrial, Freshwater and Marine Resources

PICs are losing biodiversity due to unsustainable resource management, including the lack of protected areas, weak quarantine capacity and the increased risk of foreign pests and diseases (including invasives).

The expected outcomes of FAO assistance in the area of sustainable management of terrestrial, freshwater and marine resources are:

·         sustainably managed terrestrial, freshwater and marine resources;

·         community managed protected areas established;

·         strengthened quarantine capacity; and

·         reduced risk of introductions of foreign pests and diseases.
