World Food Day 2015 Poster Contest for Children

As part of celebration of World Food Day 2015, FAO Bangladesh organized a poster contest for children at Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur on 28 August. BARI facilitated the arrangements for the contest.
Children from 5 to17 yrs were invited to use their imagination and artistic talent to create posters illustrating the World Food Day theme: ‘Social Protection and Agriculture, Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty’.


Around 400 children of different age groups participated in the contest and took the opportunity to express their ideas about the contribution of agriculture in poverty alleviation. FAO provided drawing materials to the participating children, and prizes for the winning entries.


Mr Mike Robson, FAO Representative, Mr David Doolan, Deputy Representative and other officials of FAO Bangladesh joined the programme from Dhaka. Dr Rafiqul Islam Mondal Director General, BARI and Mr Dr Jiban Krishna Biswas, Director General, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute also attended.


To encourage the participating children, Mr Robson joined in producing poster on the World Food Day theme.
