Вопросы нацелены на конференции, научно-практические семинары, трейнинги и другие мероприятия, организованные ФАО, другими агентствами / органами ООН и 15 исследовательскими центрами Консультативной группы по международным сельскохозяйственным исследованиям (CGIAR). События включают все секторы по производству продовольствия и ведения сельского хозяйства (семеноводство, лесное хозяйство, рыбное хозяйство / аквакультуру, животноводство, агропромышленность) и широкий спектр биотехнологий (напр., использование молекулярных рынков, искусственного осеменения, триплоидизации, биологических удобрений, микроклонального размножения, геномики, генетической модификации, и т.д.). Новости и события с веб-страницы также рассылаются электронным путем, в форме электронного бюллетня FAO-BiotechNews, который издается на шести различных языках: арабском, английском, французском, испанском, китайском и русском. Organised by the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in partnership with the Sokoine University of Agriculture, the training course is for young African scientists interested in basic and applied research on animal biotechnology. The course will include lectures, hands-on training and journal clubs in order to enhance new research skills in animal biotechnology. Attendance of 20 scientists from African countries will be funded - deadline for applications is 14 December.

Co-organised by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), the objectives of this workshop are to get the current research state in control or elimination of groundnut aflatoxin; to share status/progressive reports on development and accessibility of groundnut genomic research information, technology, and infrastructure and to identify future priorities and needs for groundnut genomic research; and to provide a forum for international researchers to explore the issues relevant to groundnut aflatoxin and genomics and to establish international collaboration and consortium.

This is an Open Session of the Research Group of the European Commission for the control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EUFMD). Its aim is to review progress in technical issues affecting the international control of FMD and, in so doing, to highlight significant changes or issues that require to be recognised by those implementing control policies and funding research and development. In particular, the Session will look at recent progress in the development and application of risk assessment methods; of surveillance for FMD in the source countries; and of diagnostic tools and vaccines for routine and emergency application. Further, it will consider the international trends in these fields and the perspectives of suppliers and users. The EUFMD is a regional Commission established under the auspices of FAO in 1954.

Workshop participants will be senior officials responsible for GMO management, co-existence measures and biosafety in transition countries of South Eastern Europe and European countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
