Вопросы нацелены на конференции, научно-практические семинары, трейнинги и другие мероприятия, организованные ФАО, другими агентствами / органами ООН и 15 исследовательскими центрами Консультативной группы по международным сельскохозяйственным исследованиям (CGIAR). События включают все секторы по производству продовольствия и ведения сельского хозяйства (семеноводство, лесное хозяйство, рыбное хозяйство / аквакультуру, животноводство, агропромышленность) и широкий спектр биотехнологий (напр., использование молекулярных рынков, искусственного осеменения, триплоидизации, биологических удобрений, микроклонального размножения, геномики, генетической модификации, и т.д.). Новости и события с веб-страницы также рассылаются электронным путем, в форме электронного бюллетня FAO-BiotechNews, который издается на шести различных языках: арабском, английском, французском, испанском, китайском и русском. Workshop organised by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and the Istituto Agronomico per l`Oltremare.

This international colloquium for the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and its partners is organized by ICRISAT (the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics), CIAT (the International Center for Tropical Agriculture), ILRI (the International Livestock Research Institute) and ISNAR (the International Service for National Agricultural Research) - four of the 16 research centres supported by the CGIAR - and the CGIAR Central Advisory Service on Intellectual Property. The purposes of the colloquium include to "share experiences and lessons from working in alliances that cross-conventional boundaries in order to exploit biotechnology for development" and to "develop an action plan through which the CGIAR can support the emergence of a new architecture for innovation that would help exploit biotechnology for pro-poor development".

In response to invitations by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, the Government of Italy is organising a workshop on this subject.

This symposium is being held in conjunction with the annual meetings of the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) and the Soil Science Society of America and is co-organised by FAO, the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project, Michigan State University and the CSSA. The sponsors include the organising institutions, the United States Agency for International Development and the World Bank. The Symposium aims to "provide opportunities for technical and policy experts to explore a global strategy and action plan to harness biotechnology to improve food security and alleviate poverty through multi-stakeholder cooperation".

CropLife Asia is organising this conference, in association with a host of organisations, including the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), which "will examine the role that two technologies agricultural biotechnology and information technology- can play in achieving sustainable agricultural development".
Bangkok. Thailand
The event is being convened by the Group of 77 "in order to bring together representatives from government, the scientific community, civil society, the business sector and other stakeholder groups to formulate a South-South strategy for the execution of initiatives in the field of science and technology". The conference programme includes a workshop on biotechnology (28 October).
Dubai. United Arab Emirates
The International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) are co-hosting this symposium.
Geneva. Switzerland
This symposium on crop biotechnology is organised bythe REDBIO Argentina National Co-ordination. REDBIO stands for FAO`s Technical Co-operation Network on Plant Biotechnology.
Buenos Aires. Argentina
The symposium is sponsored by a range of private and public sector organisations, including the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Beijing. China
The European Science Foundation`s Scientific Programme "Assessment of the impacts of genetically modified plants" is organising this meeting in collaboration with, among others, the International Centre of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
Rome. Italy
An advanced research workshop funded by the European Union and held under the auspices of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations, the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute and the National Agricultural Research Foundation of Greece.
Crete. Greece
This is one of the main features of the inaugural International Rice Congress, organised by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the Chinese State Development and Planning Commission, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and co-sponsored by FAO. The conference`s programme includes symposia and workshops, based on three major themes, the first of which is "The application of genomics, bioinformatics, and modern plant breeding approaches in rice improvement".

This international conference, organised by a range of organisations and institutes, including FAO, aims to provide a forum for lawyers and scientists to share their knowledge and opinions on legal aspects (including intellectual property rights) of biotechnology applied to agriculture, food or medicine.
Bangkok Thailand
This is one of the major parallel events to the World Summit on Sustainable Development and is organised by the South African Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology, the International Council for Science, the Third World Academy of Science and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations. Currently, details on 38 different sessions are available, including "The role of biotechnology and biodiversity in sustainable development: A dialogue between government, industry, international organisations and scientists" (31 August) and "Food security in Africa" (30 August).

Stara Lesna. Slovakia
A one-day symposium sponsored and organised jointly by FAO and the 7th World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production (7WCGALP).
Montpellier. France
The objectives of this training course, organised by the International Center for Living Aquatic Resources (ICLARM), include providing participants with a background to the use of genetic markers as a tool for fisheries resource management and to present the pros and cons of the different genetic techniques that may be used for the assessment of genetic variability.
Penang. Malaysia
Every four years, FAO convenes a Session of the International Rice Commission to provide a forum for senior policy makers and senior rice specialists from FAO Member Countries to address issues and constraints, as well as review and orient their national rice research and development programmes. FAO hosts the Secretariat of the Commission. The meeting, whose main theme is "rice for food security", devotes one of its six sessions to "progress in rice genetic improvement for food security", where some papers on rice biotechnology will be presented. Individuals interested in the promotion of sustainable rice production for food security may attend the meeting as observers.
