About the event: The event will start at 18:00 hours with an Opening Statement by the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, followed by an International Panel that will share experiences in addressing conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources for food and agriculture. The event will close at 19:30 hours.

Refreshments will be available outside the Iran room from 17:30 hours onwards.

Aims and Topics: At this side event, participants will reflect on the importance of genetic resources for food and agriculture to food security, nutrition and livelihoods, as well as on the role of the Commission and on future challenges. Panelists will represent the perspectives of different stakeholders and discuss interventions at various levels.
