Titre Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Control and Prevention: multi-faceted intervention for Capacity Building in Vietnam
Résumé The outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in several South-East Asian countries have raised serious economic and public health concerns. In Viet Nam, the first outbreak was reported on December 2003 in Ha Tay Province. By the end of February 2004 the disease was spread in 64 provinces. Facing with many difficulties in dealing with such an unprecedented emergency, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam requested FAOs support for the control of the outbreak and prevention to the human transmission of the disease. Several donors and agencies including FAO have been supporting the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in such a big endeavour through focused capacity building interventions to improve epidemiology capacities of key veterinary staff, improved information flow and reporting systems, surveillance of large farms and development of contingency plans. Currently the effort continues under the Integrated National Operational Programme for Avian & Human Influenza 2006-2010
