Application of risk assessment in the fish industry
FAO Fisheries Technical Paper No. 442 In recent years, the concept of risk has become paramount in international food regulation, and industries are increasingly required to undertake product risk assessment, particularly in the export arena. This publication has been developed as a complete package on how to undertake risk assessment for use by seafood technologists, regulators and health professionals. It is designed in five parts to guide the user through the risk assessment process. This publication also includes a CD-ROM - the Resources Bank - which provides extensive additional information for the would-be risk assessor.

FAO Land and Water Digital Media Series No. 28 The trilingual photo library is a complimentary, technically annotated photographic annex to the Guidelines for mapping and measurement of rainfall-induced erosion processes in the Mediterranean coastal areas [United Nations Environmet Programme (UNEP), Mediterranean Action Plan and Priority Action Programme], which are also included in this CD-ROM and give guidelines and illustrations for mapping soil erosion processes. |

Ethics of sustainable agricultural intensification, (The)
FAO Ethics Series No. 3 This issue of the FAO Ethics Series explores three possible approaches to an ethical analysis of agricultural intensification strategies. Human food needs provide the basis for an utilitarian argument for intensification, while the moral concept of virtue addresses people's duty work for the good of society. A rights-based analysis then reveals then reveals how individuals' pursuit of such good can be constrained by the rights of others. Fostering debate around these approaches helps us to articulate and, ultimately, to assume ethical responsibilities for the intensification of agriculture.

Ethique et intensification agricole durable
Collection FAO : Questions d'éthique nº 3 Le présent volume envisage trois approches possibles à une analyse éthique des stratégies d'intensification agricole. Les besoins alimentaires de l'homme constituent la justification utilitaire de l'intensification, tandis que le concept moral de vertu recouvre le devoir de l'homme de travailler pour le bien de la société. Une analyse basée sur les droits montre que la poursuite de ce bien par les individus peut être entravée par les droits des autres personnes. L'ouverture d'un débat sur ces approches peut nous aider à définir et, finalement, à assumer les responsabilités éthiques de l'intensification de l'agriculture.
