The meeting is intended to provide a space for an open discussion among CFS stakeholders on the different elements of the HLPE report on Nutrition and Food Systems.

The Committee in 2017 decided to embark on a multistakeholder policy convergence process which were intended to lead to the development of Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition to be finalized by October 2020. After CFS 47 had been post-poned from October 2020 to February 2021, the Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition were finally on 10 February 2021.
