Overview paper on global challenges in genetic resources management published in new journal Genetic Resources

The first issue of the newly launched journal Genetic Resources features an overview paper on the global status of genetic resources for food and agriculture and challenges in their management prepared by FAO. The paper, entitled Global status of genetic resources for food and agriculture: challenges and research needs, highlights key knowledge gaps related to the management of plant, animal, forest, aquatic, micro-organism and invertebrate genetic resources and emphasizes the importance of integrated, cross-sectoral approaches to their sustainable use and conservation.

The new journal, launched as part of the EU funded GenRes Bridge project, serves as a platform for knowledge sharing across the various domains of genetic resources, with a focus on plant, animal and forest genetic resources. It aims to fill the gaps left by the discontinuation of the former Plant Genetic Resources Newsletter and the journal Animal Genetic Resources
