Climate Smart Agriculture Sourcebook

This section provides a comprehensive introduction to the CSA concept. It defines what CSA is (and is not), and what applying the CSA approach entails. It identifies key areas of intervention and outlines how the CSA approach can support countries to build their resilience to the impacts of climate change while increasing the sustainability and productivity of agricultural systems. It positions CSA in the context of the international climate and sustainable development agendas and demonstrates how, on the ground, CSA implementation should be embedded in the landscape. Climate change adaptation and mitigation approaches are defined and synergies and potential trade-offs assessed to highlight the complexities that must be addressed during a holistic CSA design process.
