Development regionsThe pilot districts are located in two clusters covering two major development regions in Nepal. The mean annual precipitation varies from 1 500 mm in the Terrai region to 2 000 mm in inner Terrai and hilly regions. The districts are traditionally dominated by agriculture and livestock activity and basically lie in Terrai and hill production systems. Paddy, maize, wheat, millet, vegetables, banana are the major agriculture crops. whereas cattle, buffalo, goat, poultry are the livestock related enterprise.
Pilot DistrictsThe project pilot districts were selected based on a series of meetings and consultations with Department of Agriculture (DoA), Ministry of Environment and Science and Technology and Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and other international and national NGOs using a set of criteria. Two clusters of districts were selected covering major development regions (east and west) of Nepal. Eastern Development Region : Siraha and Udaipur
