Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation in Vietnam
To support farmers in stable seed production and reduce the impacts of disasters and adapt to climate change, NOMAFSI developed 2 pilot models on community-based rice seed production, storage and circulation model system. Field demonstrations were conducted and trainings organized in the form of Farmer Field School (FFS) in all aspects of advanced technology for on-farm rice seed production.
FAO, in collaboration with NOMAFSI tested grass species to develop appropriate grazing and fodder grass production system for drought flat lands and slope lands towards advanced husbandry and cattle rising and natural resources protection. For this, two pilot sites were implemented in Lao Cai and Yen Bai to test different cultivation, harvest and post harvest techniques. This activity included training sessions for farmers to disseminate information and achievements of the project.
