MDG-F Environment and Climate Change ProgrammesThe Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Achievement Fund is an international cooperation mechanism that aims to accelerate progress on the MDGs worldwide. Established in December 2006 with a contribution of €528 million Euros ($US710M) from the Spanish Government to the United Nations system, the MDG-F supports national governments, local authorities and citizen organizations in their efforts to tackle poverty and inequality. MDG-F is implemented in seven thematic windows, where Window 1 is dealing with Environment and Climate Change. FAO is involved in 16 national programmes under the Environment and Climate Change window. All of them started in 2008-2009, with duration of three years.
