This TCP-F will work with countries and regional partners to develop a regional programme to address the developing GEF 7 Impact Programme (IP) on Landscape Restoration. The GEF-7 programme is expected to provide significant support through an integrated, multi-focal area Landscape Restoration IP to help countries make real progress in restoring degraded land by providing significant levels of incremental funding to on-the-ground activities addressing critical geographic and thematic gaps, technical capacities and enabling environment, including informed policy, legal and regulatory frameworks for improved governance, tenure and investment decision making.

It will support Bangladesh to undertake pre-feasibility assessment and development of the project CN. In Pakistan, it will complement other resources to support a number of important GCF required assessments (environmental and social, gender, financial fiduciary and procurement plan) and develop the GCF format Funding Proposal.

It will support Cambodia and Myanmar in finalizing PPFA to secure GCF funding for Full Proposal preparation while advancing the FP preparation. In Viet Nam, TCP-F will complement resources from FAO HQs, Country Office and other sources to ensure proper consultations during the FP preparation.

This TCP-F will work with countries and regional partners to develop two independent regional projects for submission to GEF (IW, BD and CC) in the form of PIFs. These will respectively assist i) Gulf of Thailand countries and ii) Lower Mekong Basin countries in meeting the environmental, social, economic and governance challenges they face in fisheries sectors and Gulf of Thailand and LMB sub-regions. The expected combined value of potential GEF projects is conservatively estimated to be 13 Million USD related to grant and 60 MUSD including co-financing.

The proposed project will adopt an integrated, multistakeholder and holistic ?plot to pot? food production system that will combine the production of a variety of nutritious vegetables and fruits and small scale livestock such as chickens, ducks and aquaculture toward a more self-reliant provision of school meals. School gardens and nutrition education will be integrated into the school curricula so it becomes an integral part of the teaching and learning process. School-community links to promote shared responsibility between government and communities will be strengthened. Home gardens will help improving the diets of households and nutrition education will contribute to family nutrition.

The main objective of the project is to strengthen phytosanitary capacity of NPPOs and technical supporting organizations/entities (e.g. universities) of the recipient countries. This will be achieved through providing technical and operation manuals, organizing field and laboratory trainings and workshops and developing recommendations to be used by the respective NPPOs, in implementation of phytosanitary activities for international movement of seeds. In addition, the promotion of changes in the consciousness of general public and related private sectors through this project will contribute to preventing introduction and spread of pests associated with the international movement of seeds. Also, the project achievements and findings can be useful reference for the member consultations on the draft ISPM on seeds, which has been elaborated in the IPPC framework, and will contribute to the harmonization of relevant phytosanitary measures.
