Film: Access to Water and Land - Dimitra Clubs in Niger
This six-minute video shows how the FAO Dimitra Clubs in Niger have been crucial to ensure women’s access to land and water, while contributing to nutrition, food security and gender equality, thereby reducing rural poverty. The transformative approach of the Dimitra Clubs induces behavioral changes in various aspects of daily life for individuals, households and communities in rural areas. Dimitra Clubs are groups of rural women and men who voluntarily decide to get organized to discuss their development challenges, find solutions and take collective action to improve their livelihoods and take control of their own lives.

The FAO-Dimitra Clubs enable rural communities to strengthen their capacities, their self-confidence and take action on their environment. Thanks to the FAO-Dimitra Clubs, women, men and youth organize themselves, share their concerns, look for solutions together and take collective action.
This film, produced in September 2013, shows the activities of the clubs in Gasseda, Niger.
Dimitra CD-ROM 2012
Following the 2004 and 2008 editions, Dimitra has produced a new CD-ROM which contains all of the information to be found on the Dimitra website and on-line databaseas of 31 December 2011, in English and French.
The Dimitra on-line database lists detailed information on organisations based in Africa together with descriptions of those development projects and initiatives they are involved in which actively concern rural populations – and more particularly women – and use a gender or women-specific approach. The aim of the database is to provide a set of best practices and firsthand experiences that may give inspiration to others working in the same field and strengthen possibilities for mutual exchange and cooperation.
The aim of the CD-ROM is to facilitate dissemination of the information collected by the project to those who do not have easy Internet access.

CD-ROM of the Dimitra Phase 2 Relaunch Workshop
This CD-ROM gathered all of the ideas, contributions and proposals of the Dimitra Phase 2 Relaunch Workshop which took place in Brussels in October 2002. The objectives of the workshop were to strengthen the links between the partners in the Dimitra network; to come together to develop best practices and 'recipes' for information and communication for development with a gender approach; and to strengthen bonds with civil society actors and ministries.
