FAO and Norway stress the importance of multilateralism to achieve the SDGs

22 October 2019, Oslo – In talks today FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and Dag Inge Ulstein, Norway’s Minister of International Development, agreed on the importance of multilateralism – countries cooperating together through international institutions – to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The two parties stressed that all efforts need to be made to reach those furthest behind and agreed that in this context, adaptation and building resilience to climate change are essential.

During the meeting, Qu also outlined FAO’s new Hand-In-Hand Initiative which prioritizes targeted work that benefits people in the world’s most vulnerable regions including small island states, least developed and landlocked countries.
