World Food Programme honours Graziano da Silva

Cites FAO Director-General’s efforts to achieve Zero Hunger

14 June 2019, Rome – The World Food Programme (WFP) today honoured José Graziano da Silva whose second and final term at the helm of FAO ends on July 31.

In a Certificate of Appreciation awarded to the FAO Director-General at a ceremony in Rome, WFP cited his “unwavering commitment and exceptional service to ending world hunger”.

The Certificate was signed by the President of the WFP Executive Board and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Hisham Mohamed Badr, and WFP Executive Director, David Beasley.

During the ceremony at the WFP headquarters in Rome, several ambassadors and representatives from WFP Members and Observers took to the floor to pay tribute to the FAO Director-General.

Graziano da Silva has served as FAO Director-General since 2011.
