FAO Chief meets Burkina Faso’s Minister for Agriculture and Water Development

Climate change and jobs for rural youth

7 July 2017, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva held talks with Burkina Faso’s Minister for Agriculture and Water Development, Jacob Ouédraogo, who was in Rome to attend the Organization’s 40th Conference (3-8 July 2017).

During the meeting, Graziano da Silva affirmed FAO’s commitment to work with the Government and people of Burkina Faso to improve food security.  The pair also discussed strengthening resilience, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and creating jobs for rural youth.

“Fostering sustainable agriculture and rural development is essential to youth involvement in agriculture,” Mr. Ouédraogo said after the meeting.
