Talks with private sector representatives to the CFS

Focus on sustainable food production, nutrition and food waste

11 October 2017, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today met with representatives from the private sector to the Committee on World Food Securty (CFS) to discuss their engagement in sustainable food production, nutrition and food waste reduction. 

The meeting took place at FAO headquarters in Rome on the sidelines of the 44th session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS). The CFS is based at FAO and is the top forum of the United Nations on food security policies.

They also discussed the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security, which promote secure tenure rights for land, fisheries and forests as a means of eradicating hunger and poverty, supporting sustainable development and enhancing the environment.
