Celebrating 65 years of the FAO Library

FAO Director-General inaugurates a yearlong exhibition on the historic events that have shaped it

5 December 2017, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today inaugurated a yearlong exhibition on the historic events that have shaped the FAO library.

"The FAO library is one of the world's most important sources of information and research on food, agriculture and other relevant themes," he said at the ceremony.

For the first time ever, a selection of the library’s most beautiful incunabula (books printed before 1501) and rare books from the 16th to the 18th century are on display in special exhibit cases for three weeks from 22 November to 12 December, 2017.

In addition, a first public presentation of footage from the 1930s to the 1950s from the Historical Film Archive Cinecittà Luce is on display.
