19 June 2013, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva has encouraged Ghana to continue its efforts in the fight against hunger and invited the country to share its successful experience as an example for other nations. Ghana was one of 38 countries formally recognized last Sunday for reducing hunger by half.

At a meeting yesterday with Ghana’s Minister for Food and Agriculture, Clement Kofi Humado, the Director-General also thanked him for the  ‘symbolism’ of letting three Ghanaian farmers receive an award for outstanding progress in fighting hunger at Sunday’s ceremony at FAO.

The Minister expressed support for the reforms introduced by the Director-General and for his leadership of the Organization. Ghana is proud to host FAO’s  Regional Office for Africa, he said, thanking FAO for its “great support”.
