FAO Director-General meets Secretary General of the Minister of Agriculture of Estonia

At the margins of the Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Agriculture

28 November 2014, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with the Secretary General of the Minister of Agriculture of Estonia, Ants Noot.

The meeting took place in Palermo at the margins of the two-day Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Agriculture organized by the Italian EU Presidency and offered the chance to thank the Secretary General for the continuous support Estonia is providing to the work of FAO. “We look forward to even enhance this collaboration,” FAO Director-General said.

Ants Noot appreciated the opportunity to discuss different ways and means to ripen the relationship between FAO and Estonia.

Referring to next year’s agenda, Noot mentioned the upcoming Agroforum Balticum, scheduled for April 2015. The Forum will bring together the ministers of Agriculture around the Baltic Sea and Eastern Neighbourhood.

Last year’s Forum saw the participation of six Ministers and six Vice-Ministers from the Region. Noot expressed satisfaction for FAO’s presence in the last sessions, along with the hope to see the organization represented again at the highest level in 2015.

Da Silva said he appreciates the very active role Estonia is playing within FAO and appreciated the interest Estonia is showing to further enhance joint activities within the framework of  South-South cooperation.
