28 June 2016, Rome- FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva José Graziano da Silva today met with the Slow Food movement founder and president and FAO's Ambassador for Zero Hunger for Europe, Carlo Petrini. I

n his role as a Special Ambassadorr, Petrini will help ensure a better understanding of FAO's vision of a world free of hunger and malnutrition in which food and agriculture contribute towards improving livelihoods, particularly those of poor people.

"We now know that eliminating the scourge of hunger in our lifetime is possible", said FAO Director-General.  "I am delighted that you as a Special Ambassador for Zero Hunger for Europe will work side-by-side with FAO to achieve this". 

Slow Food, is an organization working to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions and to ensure everyone has access to good, clean and fair food
