FAO Director-General meets President of Fiji

Talks focus on the impact of climate change on small island developing states

21 March 2017, Rome - Director-General José Graziano da Silva today welcomed President Jiogi Konrote of Fiji to FAO, where they discussed the impact of climate change to small island developing states (SIDS). 

Fiji and other small island developing states are on the front lines in the battle against climate change. The government of Fiji is poised to assume the presidency of the next Conference of Parties of the UN Climate Agreement that will take place in in Bonn, Germany, in November.

During his visit, President Konrote participated as a keynote speaker both at the International Day of Forests event and the Global Symposium on Soil Organic Carbon organized by FAO.
