FAO Director-General meets Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister

Discussion on transboundary animal diseases ahead of FAO Conference

1 July 2017, Rome - FAO Director-General today met Milutin Simovic', Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, for talks on bilateral cooperation with a special focus on trans boundary animal diseases.

“Since the establishment of relations with FAO ten years ago, Montenegro has actively participated in different projects in Montenegro and the Balkans, tackling the different challenges agriculture faces,” he said in remarks following the meeting. 

The talks took place ahead of the session in Rome of the FAO Conference, the organization’s governing body on 3-8 July.

“My message to the Conference will be on the need to react at the global level, strengthening cooperation between agencies, institutions and states, in order to find solutions to the global problems we are facing, including climate change,” he added.
