Graziano da Silva meets Princess Viktória de Bourbon de Parme

Sustainable, healthy food system at centre of discussion

7 July 2017, Rome – The FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva held talks with H.R.H Princess Viktória de Bourbon de Parme at FAO headquarters in Rome after the pair took part in a side-event on nutritious food systems during the FAO Conference.

Princess Viktória is patron of the non-government organization Save the Children in the Netherlands and is passionate about ending hunger.

After the meeting, she said she was pleased that the Director-General supported her mission to learn more about smallholder farmers and their role in creating a world of Zero Hunger.

“I’m very happy that there will be opportunities in the future for me to speak with smallholder farmers, to raise their voice and hear how they think we can all contribute to a more healthy and sustainable food system,” she said.

The Netherlands has long been an important partner for FAO, having joined the Organization in 1945.
