Climate change, fisheries at centre of talks with Thailand’s Agriculture Minister

Thailand leading the way on climate change mitigation

7 July 2017, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with Thailand’s Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, General Chatchai Sarikulya, at FAO headquarters in Rome during Conference week.

Discussions centred on FAO’s strong partnership with Thailand, as well as food security issues related to fisheries and climate change.

“We have been addressing these (climate change) issues for a long time, we have mitigated the impacts of flooding, heavy rain and drought,” General Chatchai Sarikulya said. “I assured the Director-General that Thailand stands ready to cooperate with FAO in all issues including climate change”.

Thailand became a member of FAO in 1947, and is home to FAO’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
