The first significant rains reached the south-west of the country in early-April, allowing land preparation to start. They progressed northwards in mid-April and early-May and became abundant in the centre and the south in mid and late May. In early June, they reached the extreme north but decreased in the south and the centre. Planting of coarse grains is well underway. Land preparation has started in the extreme north.
There was an unconfirmed report of Desert Locusts near Kaya in the north-east during the first dekad of May.
