Appendix 4:Terms of reference of national statistical correspondents on forest product statistics

The roles and responsibilities of national correspondents were introduced at the beginning of the workshop by Mr F. Padovani (see Role and Responsibility of National Correspondents, this volume) and during the week various aspects were discussed; the resulting “declaration” is reported hereunder.

Responsibilities of the National Correspondent (NC) on forest product statistics

Data exchange between FAO and the NC

Annual basic annual statistical cycle

FAO will send the JFSQ to the NC (March to April)

FAO will receive the completed JFSQ (August)

FAO will release FAOSTAT on the WWW, CD ROM and in the Yearbook (December to March)

National correspondent’s benefits

Full access to the Internet

Participate in network activities among countries and within countries (training, working, meetings)

Receive other relative documents, information, user notes, updated information from FAO

National correspondent’s responsibility

Complete the JFSQ and return to FAO by August

Provide information (clarify questions related to past and present forest sector data)

Communicating the JFSQ
