PREPARATION OF THIS DOCUMENT

The present document is the Report of the Workshop on Aquaculture Planning organized by the Inland Water Resources and Aquaculture Service (FIRI) of the FAO Fisheries Department, for the nine countries of the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC). It was held in Lusaka, Zambia from 7 to 11 October 1985, concurrently with the Sixth Session of the Committee for Inland Fisheries of Africa (CIFA).

ABSTRACT

A workshop on aquaculture planning in the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC) countries was organized in Lusaka, Zambia, from 7 to 11 October 1985. During nine technical sessions, the major factors related to aquaculture planning were reviewed and discussed. These included socio-economic aspects, cultural systems, training and extension, private versus public sector and regional cooperation. A series of specific recommendations were agreed upon by the participants.
