75. A further concern was that either the small potential yields or depleted condition of many of the stocks that may be encountered might make incurring management costs difficult for a Commission to justify.

76. One suggestion made concerning the urgent need for some progress in data analysis was to “fast stream” a part of the data, i.e. begin analysis of one part of the data. There was agreement that it would be beneficial to doing this and that the BRS, Australia and Ministry of Fisheries/NIWA, New Zealand would explore means to do this.

77. It was agreed that the first objective was to ensure that any data describing the fishery was properly archived (and not lost); the second objective was to arrange for it to be entered into a database so that analyses and related data interrogations would be possible.
