The document also includes an extensive list of related Internet sites.
The document has been prepared in order to provide up to-date information on these complex subject matters to FAO members and others interested in them.
The document is a synthesis of the work of a number of authors. They are Dr Cathy Roheim Wessells, Professor, Department of Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, University of Rhode Island; Kevern Cochrane, Senior Fishery Resources Officer, FAO Fisheries Department; Carolyn Deere, Assistant Director, Global Inclusion, The Rockefeller Foundation (formerly Trade and Biodiversity Policy Fellow at the World Conservation Union-IUCN); Paul Wallis, Senior International Advisor, New Zealand Ministry of Fisheries and Rolf Willmann, Senior Fishery Planning Officer, FAO Fisheries Department. The material authored by Deere, and Cochrane & Willmann has been in some parts published elsewhere.
