Vegetation description

Mangroves extend along the Atlantic coast from the border with French Guyana to Florianapolis in the southern state of Santa Catarina, where scrub trees of Laguncularia racemosa can still be found. Two other main species found are Rhizophora mangle and Avicennia nitida.
