BULGARIA (9 June)

Recent rainfall in Bulgaria was timely for this year’s cereal crops after a period of dry hot weather and production prospects remain satisfactory. However, yields are expected to return closer to the five-year average, after the bumper levels in 2004, and aggregate cereal output is forecast at just about 6 million tonnes, compared to the exceptional crop of 7.2 million tonnes lat year.
