This publication is part of report series published under the FAO Investment Centre/European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Cooperation Programme. The series presents sector reviews and studies undertaken in Central and Eastern Europe that cover development issues and innovative areas to increase investment in agriculture in the region.This report prepared for EBRD’s Agribusiness team presents an overview of potential areas of investment in Uzbekistan’s agribusiness sector. It reviews the general investment climate in Uzbekistan, outlining constraints and recent improvements. It also includes an analysis of opportunities in each agricultural/agribusiness subsector, as well as a series of local company profiles. The conclusions of the report led to one of EBRD’s first investments in Uzbekistan’s agribusiness sector in a winery and brewery company. The report provides useful material to investors interested in Uzbekistan’s agribusiness sector.
