The workshop was officially closed by Mr. Mziti, Deputy Director of the Central Statistical Office. Mr. Mziti thanked the workshop participants for the hard work which they had done during the workshop. He stressed the importance of reaching rural youth in Zimbabwe (72% of all youth) with population-related information and noted that although there had been a rapid expansion of the number of children attending school, almost 11% of the country's youth still receive no schooling at all.
Mr. Mziti concluded by reminding the participants that the country's youth are a national resource of first magnitude, and that there is a responsibility of the part of society to ensure that opportunities for appropriate development are made available to them.
