Lunch at Pola Pola Restaurant – closing of the workshop

The site visits were an integral part of the workshop. They offered an invaluable opportunity for participants to see first-hand what their counterparts are doing in other countries and other Ministries, to learn, and to strengthen professional connections.

At the Land Development Department, Thailand, participants viewed a presentation on how the Department is using Remote Sensing and GIS information for disaster planning and recovery and toured the facilities. See more about LDD Thailand at http://www.ldd.go.th/index_lddeng.htm

At the Department of Fisheries of Thailand Information Management Unit, participants saw a practical demonstration of the Department’s information system set up for coordination, monitoring and evaluation purposes in Fisheries and which is being extended to Agriculture and Forestry. Following the site visits, participants attended the closing luncheon at Pola Pola Restaurant. In his closing remarks, Dr Gamini Keerthisinghe thanked the participants for their active participation during the workshop and expressed his appreciation to the organizing team and the support staff.
