ABSTRACT

The regional agro-industries forum for Asia and the Pacific was convened in Yangling, China from 3 to 6 November 2009, jointly organized by the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, IFAD, UNIDO and the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government of China. The aim of the forum was to facilitate discussion and dialogue on the creation of an enabling environment for agro-industries in the region that incorporates smallholders as significant stakeholders in agri-food supply chains. Participants included government officials, food industry leaders, agro-industry specialists and civil society representatives. The programme of the forum comprised two plenary sessions, four parallel round tables, nine peer assisted workshops and two facilitated side discussions.
