ABSTRACT

Since 1982, FAO has played an important role in assisting and supporting countries in Asia and the Pacific region to regulate the use of agricultural pesticides in accordance with the International Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides. To strengthen pesticide management in the region and share information about regulatory processes among countries, FAO has been assisting countries in the region to achieve greater pesticide regulatory harmonization. This document is the outcome of a workshop to strengthen the regulatory capacities of participating countries and to serve as a model for other Asian countries to join the harmonization process. It reports on pesticide management at regional and country levels, and provides action plans that serve as a vision statement and roadmap for each country in the coming years.
