Furrow plow. - Designed for use with 40- or 50-hp engine tractor. In one movement opens sufficiently large and deep furrow to allow the placing of young poplars without need for touching earth with hands, and opens irrigation canals near rows of poplars of varying widths according to size of trees. Speeds up planting of young poplars, offers considerable economy of time and reduces labor costs.

22-ton timber wagon. - Wagon is of steel construction and has wooden floor. It is divided into two equal lengths. Ends and center partition securely braced to underframe solebars; this prevents logs from slipping sideways. Two openings 3 ft 2 in (96.5 cm) wide provided in center of each loading section to accommodate timber handling equipment.

Joutsa tractor skidding winch. Winch anchored by buttshore alone, no anchorage wires needed. Skidding effected by using one drum, or a double drum, or two drums with an additional wire to build closed circle. Four-wheel drive tractor County Super 4. - This vehicle has equalsized wheels. Turning circle 16.5 ft (5 m) diam. Steering brakes operate both wheels either side. Brakes are coupled to act on all four wheels for road work. Engine 65 hp. Ford Super Major 4 cylinder, direct injection - diesel. 8 fwd, 2 rev. speeds. Hydraulic lift linkage. Smallford tree planter. - Handles up to 3-year old trees, up to 2 ft 6 in (76 cm) in length where the foliage is flexible. It gives almost any spacing and weighs 4 ½ cwt (2,040 kg).

Spiral chipper model 700-A. Horizontally-fed spiral chipper for up to 18 in (46 cm) roundwood or sawmill waste. Knives cut parallel to fibers of wood so that both length and thickness of chips can be predetermined. Chipper consists of two disks in the shape of truncated cones and forming a V-slot into which wood is fed. Rows of knives are mounted in spiral on both conical discs. Feed rate is 131 ft/min (40 m/min). Stationary or mobile models available.

Machine for preparation of cuttings -Composed of an iron chassis, surmounted by a double-bladed guilotine-type cutting apparatus worked by an eccentric axle. Position of knives can be adjusted to obtain cuttings varying from 7 7/8 to 13¾ in (20 to 35 cm) long. One stroke provides cuttings ready for planting, cut diagonally at lower end to facilitate penetration into soil and. indicate end to be inserted. Machine fitted with guards and driven by 0.5 hp engine makes 35 strokes/min. Two men can produce 2,600 to 2,800 cuttings per hour, an increase of 80 to 100 percent over results obtained from pruning scissors.

The World Wildlife Fund

The World Wildlife Fund has as its subsidiary title: An International Foundation for Saving the World's Wildlife and Wild Places.

Much money is needed for relieving human hunger and suffering, but some is also needed for human fulfillment and inspiration. The Fund believes that the conservation of earth's priceless treasures is for the longterm benefit of man. At one end of the scale of its activities it is trying to save certain animals from extinction; at the other it is concerned with the whole intricate relationship between water, soil, plants animals and man himself.

The Fund exists to raise voluntary funds through national appeals in a number of countries, and to distribute the money on the best technical advice to existing organizations in the field. Up to one third of the money raised by a national appeal may be retained for home conservation.
