7. The Committee for the Development and Management of Fisheries in the South West Indian Ocean was abolished by the parent body at its Eleventh Session in February 1999 and therefore, there was no sitting Chairman. Mr. L. Bombin, Chief, General Legal Affairs Service, FAO facilitated the election of Officers of the Meeting.
8. The Meeting unanimously elected the following office bearers: the representative of Mauritius was elected chairperson, the representative of Madagascar as Vice-Chairperson, and the representative of Seychelles as Rapporteur.
9. The agenda shown in Appendix A was adopted. The documents placed before the Committee are listed in Appendix C.
10. The Secretary informed the Meeting of activities undertaken in the region since the Seventh Session of SWIO.
