BARBADOS LEGISLATION
Royalties and other charges shall be payable:
- for foreign fishing vessel licence, as may be set out in any access agreement or;
- for locally based foreign fishing vessel and foreign vessels used for test fishing operations, as the Minister may determine.
Note: No foreign fishing at present.

LEGISLATION
- The Government of Barbados may enter into access agreements with other states, or any relevant regional organization, on bilateral, regional or subregional basis or with associations representing foreign fishing vessels owners or charters, to provide for the allocation of fishing rights in the waters of Barbados to vessels from those states or associations.
-Fishing rights allocated under fisheries access agreements shall comply with limits of appropriate fisheries scheme.
-Fisheries access agreements shall include a provision establishing the responsibility of a foreign State for compliance with laws of Barbados and terms of agreement.

LEGISLATION
Local fishing vessel
defined as wholly owned by: (a) Government of Barbados; (b) one or more individuals who are citizens of Barbados, resident or permanent resident in Barbados, within the meaning of the Immigration act; (c) company, society or other association of persons incorporated or established under the laws of Barbados and having its principal place of business in Barbados, and which all members are citizens, resident or permanent resident of Barbados, or which all shares, stock are owned by citizen, resident or permanent resident of Barbados; (d) or vessels certified as such by the Minister.

BARBADOS LEGISLATION
-No fishing licence needed for foreign vessels: (a) used for sport fishing or fisheries research or survey operations or; (b) exempted of this requirement under applicable fisheries access agreement.
-No fishing licence shall be issued to foreign vessels without access agreement applicable.
-Notwithstanding the absence of access agreement, licence may be issued for:
(a) foreign fishing vessel used for test fishing operation; or (b) locally based foreign fishing vessel.
-Application for foreign fishing vessel licence to be made in prescribed form to the Minister.
-Fishing gear to be stowed in a prescribed way when unauthorized or on board of unauthorized foreign vessel. (Sect. 8).
-Validity of licence shall not extend beyond that of applicable access agreement. (Sect. 13)
-Every foreign fishing vessel, locally based vessels included, holding a licence or exempted of, should be listed in register kept by the Chief fisheries officer (Sect. 19)

Foreign fishing vessel permits may contain:
-details of owner and vessel;
-fishing area designated;
-periods allowed for fishing and number of voyages authorized;
-descriptions and quantities of fish permitted to be taken;
-method of fishing;
-conditions regarding landing of fish and designated ports;
-permitted use of catch;
-other terms and conditions.

% = Reports must be made every 3 days for vessels from Norway, Sweden and Faroes when fishing for herring, weekly when fishing for other species .
O = Logbook to be filled out(radio report to be made) after every fishing operation .
* = Country is a part to the South Pacific FFA arrangement which stipulates that licences will not be issued to foreign fishing vessels unless those vessels are listed in good standing on the FFA - maintained regional register of fishing vessels .
