GUYANA LEGISLATION
Fees:
-Any fishing boat operating in fishing zone but not from base in Guyana= G$1 000 000;
-Any foreign-owned fishing boat exceeding 100 ft operating from base in Guyana = G$500 000;
-Any foreign-owned fishing boat less than 100 ft operating from base in Guyana = G$150 000.

AGREEMENTS
Agreement with the Russian Federation
-Experimental fishing by two Russian shrimp trawlers for one year.
-No fees.
-All shrimp to be landed locally. By-catch transhipped to Soviet collector vessel.
-Operating costs of Soviet vessels to be met from proceeds of sale of shrimp in hard currency; any profits to go to Guyana.

LEGISLATION
The Minister may designate any country whose fishing boats may fish in Guyana waters, by order.

AGREEMENTS
Agreement between Guyana and Suriname, April 1979

-Fishing for shrimp stocks by Surinamese vessels seawards of the 19 fathoms isobath.
-Up to 30 Surinamese trawlers allowed to catch 625 metric tons of shrimp; bycatch to be retained by fishing vessels.
-Surinamese authorities to provide specified information about vessel and owner/operator, including photographs of vessel, port of registry, maximum speed, capacity, navigational equipment, etc.
-Vessels to display identification numbers according to detailed provisions laid down in the Annex to the Agreement.
-Minimum mesh size specified.
Agreement between Guyana and Jamaica, 1982
-Jamaican fleet to be issued licence to fish in Guyana waters.
-Portion of catch to be sold to local processing plants.
AGREEMENTS
Agreement with Suriname, April 1979

-Vessels required to report upon entry to and departure from fishery zone and to report position daily.
-Fishing logbook to be kept containing information about each trip and be submitted to Guyanese authorities at and of each 3 month period.

* = Country is a part to the South Pacific FFA arrangement which stipulates that licences will not be issued to foreign fishing vessels unless those vessels are listed in good standing on the FFA - maintained regional register of fishing vessels .
