Any future outlook assessment of the Asia Pacific Region must seriously incorporate and reflect the realities of the fuelwood component within the context of forest resource management and the industrial driven activities. It is Recommended that a specific fuelwood and energy analysis be included and integrated into the development of outlook scenarios. This should also form a major aspect of the recommended policy studies. Linkages with other sectors (energy policy, agriculture, land settlement, population) should also be explicitly built into this component, fully recognizing that the underlying issues are much broader than forestry.
