ANNEX I
DISCUSSION WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE POULTRYMAN CORPORATION Ltd., NEW ZEALAND

Discussion with Mr. Lepper of Poultryman Corporation Ltd. during the visit at Prawn (Fiji) Ltd. at Ravi Ravi, Fiji.

Mr. Lepper would be ready to be involved in providing raw materials to make pellets in Fiji. He also has available a hammer mill for grinding finely ingredients of shrimp feed - 5/32 inches.

Discussions about equipment:

Die: 2m/m × 33m/m at NZ$ 2,320 F.O.B.1 to produce pelleted feeds (0.5 mt per hour).

As ingredients list is quite long, it is looked into the possibility to incorporate a rich mix plus ingredients available on the spot (at the factory).

Requirement of the farm around 90 mt per year in 1989 with a 11 mt peak for a month.

Review of feed mills in Suva which could give the best offer on:

We look into the possibility of producing shrimp feed throughout:

Temptation Chicken Ltd., Suva.

Equipment:

  1. 60 HP Simon pellet machine with retention time in conditioner steam injection 80 to 85°C. Boiler a 7.025 kg per cm2 of pressure adding up to 20 kg water at mixer and molasses inclusion.

  2. Comparison of imports of shrimp feed from different places:

1. F.O.B. is free on board. It is the price offered on the condition that the seller meets all costs until the goods are delivered to the port of export. The buyer meets all further costs.

Try to look into cost of feed:

In 1986. P.C.L was proposing 85 cents per kg F.O.B Auckland or 90 cents per kg C.I.F Lautoka for shrimp feed. A new quotation is requested from P.C.L in order to prepare possible agreement for 1989 shrimp production campaign, but it is requested to look into:

  1. Full formulae made in New Zealand.

  2. Rich mix imported and mixed with other ingredients, readily prepared in Fiji whether near Lautoka or Suva (F$ 120 to 130 land freight per mt).

All inclusion drawn from these informations will be consigned in the final report.
