Smaller size zooplankton like rotifer are the choiced food for spawn. As soon as it grows to fry stage it starts taking larger size zooplankton as well.
To grow these fish food organism we must apply both organic and inorganic manure in the seed rearing ponds.

SUPPLEMENTARY FEED
In addition to the available natural fish feed organisms in the pond some artificial feed is also to be applied from outside.

Supplementary feed can be avoided for initial 2–3 days of stocking. During this period the available natural food is enough for the stocked seed.
