Conclusion

It is not a secret that demonstration is one of the best extension teaching methods which motivate and persuade farmera to learn, apply or adopt new techniques and skill or practices. On the other hand there is food deficiency in almost all rural districts. This is due mainly to ecological problems and soil erosion which in turn has a very strong/negative influence on the quality or productivity of the soil. This applies also to Myagdi district. Consequently, actions can be taken or initiated so that farmers of specific and appropriate areas having all the basic prerequisites can embark of fish cum duck farming. It will no doubt not only bring additional income to the people, provide labour to the family, but also provide nutritive value of food. Thus, it will serve more than one complementary objective. The (HMG) is effectively supporting the aquacultural activity, and the product is acceptable to the large segment of the population. The market price is relatively stable and the returns to the farmer/producer are appropriate to the risk. Consequently the Myagdi District Development Plan can review the contribution that aquaculture can make to regional/district economic, social and nutritional goals and develop strategies and policies to incorporate at least some fish farming demonstration centres within its watershed management activities.
