REPORT OF TRAINING COURSE ON SEABASS SPAWNING AND LARVAL REARING Songkhla, Thailand 1 to 20 June 1982 |
CONDUCT OF THE COURSE AND PREPARATION OF THIS REPORT
The FAO/UNDP South China Sea Fisheries Development and Coordinating Programme (SCSP), sponsor of this Course, is grateful to the Department of Fisheries (DOF) of Thailand for agreeing to jointly organize and host the Training Course on Seabass Spawning and Larval Rearing. For this, the SCSP specifically wishes to express its appreciation to Commander Swarng Charernphol, Director-General; Messrs. Ariya Sidthimunka and Vanich Varikul, Deputy Directors-General; and Mrs. Sumalee Yoktanonda, Chief, International Cooperation Unit. DOF. The National Institute of Coastal Aquaculture (NICA) of the Department at Songkhla was the venue of the Course and its staff acted as officers and instructors. Mr. Pairoj Brohmanonda, NICA Director, served as the Training Course Director, ably assisted by Messrs. Panit Sungkasem and Boonsong Sirikul as Senior Instructors. Most of the lectures and practica/field exercises were contributed by Messrs. Sujin Maneewongsa and Tanan Tattanon of the NICA. Ms. Lila Ruangpan of the Brackishwater Fisheries, DOF, Bangkok, rendered the lecture and practicum on diseases/parasites. The cooperation of Messrs. M. Masuo, T. Yokokawa and T. Watanabe of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), currently on technical assistance tour at NICA, is also appreciated. Likewise, the sponsors are grateful to all the other officers and staff of NICA and the DOF Bangkok, who have also in various ways made the success of the Course possible.
The major bulk of the lecture material, the practica/field exercises were contributed by the staff of the National Institute of Coastal Aquaculture of the Department of Fisheries of Thailand. The participants also shared their country/agency experience in this field. The course was conducted with the assistance of the SCSP staff who compiled and edited the report. Dr. W. L. Chan, Senior Small-Scale Fisheries Adviser, Dr. H.R. Rabanal, Consultant (Aquaculture) and Mr. V. Soesanto, Fisheries Extension/Training Officer.
