NOTE:

These chemicals are recommended as the minimum requirement to enable the Institute of Aquatic Products to carry out the following analyses: BOD, Ammoniacal Nitrogen, Nitrate Nitrogen, phosphate, COD, Chlorophyll'A, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, Barium, Silica, Chloride, Alkalinity, Hardness and Sulphate.

The list is prepared assuming the use of ‘Standard Methods’ of analysis, and that equipment and chemicals already existing in the Institute are utilised, together with those supplied from overseas. The laboratory should be encouraged to ‘customise’ its analytical procedures as soon as possible.

The above list should enable a considerable number of tests to be carried out before replenishment is required. These analytical procedures should be used to back up and confirm field investigations carried out on portable analysis kits, to undertake special and detailed analyses on plant and animal material as required, and to carry out those tests not suitable for field analysis.

It is recommended that as many of these items as possible are purchased in China, or from a Far Eastern agency of a European Company. All chemicals should be of “Analytical Grade”.
