1/ From 1 January to 30 June 2000

2/ Two separate conditions have to be met: 1. EC average market prices fall below 84 % of the intervention price, and market prices in the member state falls below 80 % of intervention price.

3/ Two separate conditions have to be met: 1. EC market prices fall below 78 % of the intervention price, and market prices in the member state falls below 60 % of the intervention price.

4/ The above intervention procedures will cease to exist from 1 July 2002, replaced with the private storage aid scheme.

5/ Recourse to intervention buying after 30 June 2002 will be only authorized under extreme market conditions.

6/ From 1 July 2002, private storage aid will operate subject to certain market requirements. Private storage will be opened when market prices fall below 103 percent of the basic price.

7/ Rights to the premia are subject to national and per farm ceilings.

8/ Payment of the special and suckler cow premiums are subject to a combined ceiling of two livestock units per hectare, per year. If the density does not exceed 1.4 livestock units per hectare and if animals are grass-fed, an additional EURO 100 per head premium will be granted.

9/ New program, introduced in 2000. Additional member state payments can be made on a headage or area payment. These cannot exceed 210 per ha in 2000, 280 in 2001 and 350 in 2002.
